Many people celebrate St. Patrick's Day by consuming unnatural amounts of green food and beer. I like to celebrate St. Patrick's Day by ogling a sexy Scot pretending to be an Irishman—a.k.a. Gerard Butler in P.S. I Love You.
I watched this movie for the first time on a plane, which turned out to be a gigantic mistake given how sad it is and how blubbery I can be when I cry. It tells the story of Holly (Hilary Swank) whose Irish husband (Butler) dies—but not before writing her a series of letters that help her to move beyond her grief and re-discover herself. The cast is stacked (Lisa Kudrow, Kathy Bates, Harry Connick, Jr. and Jeffrey Dean Morgan), and the shots of Ireland and Butler are gorgeous—thus, the reason I chose it this week.
If you haven't already, definitely watch this movie—preferably not on a plane, though.
On a separate note, I had a hard time thinking of St. Patrick's Day- or Irish-related chick flicks. Beside P.S. I Love You, I also came up with Made of Honor and Leap Year, but then my brain started hurting.
What's your favorite St. Patrick's Day chick flick?
