Chris Watts’s Mistress Breaks Silence on the Chilling Text He Sent Right After Murdering His Family
The story of Chris Watts, the Colorado father and husband who pleaded guilty to murdering his pregnant wife and their two daughters, is one full of jaw-dropping details. And just when you think the dust has settled, another bomb is dropped. Just days before his sentencing, Watts's mistress, Nicole Kessinger, revealed another chilling detail, and it's enough to make one's skin crawl.
Kessinger says that on August 13, the day his family was reported missing, he simply texted her "my family is gone."
She told the Denver Post that the two were casually chatting throughout the day when he sent the message in the late afternoon.
Watts and his mistress met through work and were dating for less than two months before he killed his family.
Kessinger claims that when she met Watts in July, he had told her that he was at the end of divorce proceedings. It wasn't until media reports circulated that she learned her beau was actually still married and his wife was 15 weeks pregnant with their first son. She says she was immediately scared for his wife and children.
“I thought, ‘If he was able to lie to me and hide something that big, what else was he lying about?’” she told the Denver Post.
She also claims she asked him several questions about his family and the entire situation following the news reports but he repeatedly steered the conversation away.
Later that evening, Watts was brought into custody.
Initially, Watts claimed he strangled his wife in a rage after "discovering" she killed their two children -- which he claimed was retaliation from asking her for a divorce. Recently he pleaded guilty to all three murders in order to avoid the death penalty. He will be sentenced on Monday.
