In the early hours of November 17, 2016, 30-year-old Brandi Worley of Darlington, Indiana, made a disturbing 911 call. According to WTTV, Sheriff Mark A. Casteel from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said that Worley calmly told dispatchers, "I just stabbed myself and killed my two children."

When officers arrived at the family's home, they found 7-year-old Tyler Worley and 3-year-old Charlee Worley dead in their bedroom, and Brandi's husband, Jason Worley, asleep in the basement. Casteel shared that Brandi Worley admitted to murdering her children one more time before she was transported to the hospital for a self-inflicted wound on her neck.

In a press conference detailing the events, Casteel claimed that Brandi Worley seemed "matter-of-fact" in her admissions and did not seem to be remorseful for her actions. After being treated for her injuries, the mother was sent to the Montgomery County Jail. The Indy Star reports that she initially filed a not-guilty plea. The publication also shared that in July 2017, Brandi Worley considered claiming an insanity defense.

On Friday, January 19, 2018, Brandi Worley appeared in court again, this time, officially filing a guilty plea. The Indy Star claims that according to court documents, Worley's husband, Jason, filed for divorce the day before his children were killed. Brandi Worley admitted to killing her children to prevent him from taking them away.

Jason Worley was at the January 19 hearing, where he stated that he is eager for the entire ordeal to be over. "She appeared to be just as unremorseful as she did in the 911 call," he said, according to the Indy Star. "She spoke in a very matter-of-fact manner when describing her crime. It was heart-wrenching to hear her speak as she did. All I want and have ever wanted was to have her out of sight and mind so that I may move forward from this horror."

Brandi Worley is set to be sentenced on March 19, 2018.
