A father has made national headlines for reporting his teenage son to the authorities after finding photos of a naked toddler on his phone. Leaving his family shocked, horrified, and disappointed, the teenager now faces jail time for his actions.

Yahoo reports that Missouri dad Paul Spensberger confiscated his 17-year-old son Andrew's cell phone as a punishment for misbehaving. While looking through the teenager's phone on December 30, 2017, Spensberger found nude images of a sleeping toddler. That same day, the father called the O'Fallon Police Department to report that he had found "inappropriate pictures" of a child on Andrew's phone.

The O'Fallon Police Department later revealed that the photos were of a 2-year-old girl related to Spensberger's girlfriend. Fox 2 reports that Andrew admitted to police that he removed the child's diaper while she slept on his bedroom floor, then took two photos of her with his cell phone.

Court documents obtained by Fox 2 state that the teen claimed he intended to sell the photos to a classmate, whom he "suspected of being a pedophile," for $330.

Paul Spensberger told the Daily Mail he refuses to pay his son's bail. "He feels like sh*t. He feels remorse and he is scared, he's facing time in prison," the father said. "I could go and get him but he needs to learn."

In a later interview with Fox 2, Spensberger denied saying many of the things quoted by the Daily Mail. Andrew is currently facing charges for possession of child pornography and is being held on $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on January 16.
