Mom Loses Baby After Boyfriend Poisons Her Drink With Abortion Pill

An expectant mother has been left completely devastated after learning that her doctor boyfriend allegedly poisoned her with an abortion pill, ultimately leading to the death of her unborn child. In the wake of these horrifying events, the woman is seeking justice against the man she says caused her heartbreaking loss.

Brook Fiske and Sikander Imran had been dating on and off for about three years when Fiske found out she was expecting a child. Imran had relocated from Rochester, New York, to Arlington, Virginia, for work and told Fiske that he had no interest in being a father. "He didn't want to have a baby so he tried to talk me into having an abortion … which I didn't want to do," Fiske told WIVB4.

Soon after, Fiske made the trip to Arlington when she was 17 weeks pregnant so that she and Imran could have a serious discussion about the future of their child. Before any decisions could be made, Imran allegedly poisoned the expectant mother by spiking a mug of tea. "When I was drinking my tea in the evening I got to the bottom of the cup. There was a gritty substance in there and when I looked at it, I could tell that it was a pill that had been ground up," Fiske said.

Fiske says she began experiencing painful contractions just a few hours later. It was then that Imran reportedly confessed to her what he had done. "[Imran] immediately started crying and said that he was a horrible person and that he had done what I thought he did," the woman claimed.

After being rushed to a nearby hospital, Fiske went into labor and subsequently lost her child -- a baby boy. She claims that her doctors found Misoprostol in her system. The drug is known for starting labor and treating postpartum bleeding and ulcers. "According to the nurse at the hospital, it's 200 milligrams to induce labor. So he gave me 800," said Fiske.

Imran was taken into police custody a short time after the incident and charged with unlawfully causing an abortion and premeditated killing of a fetus. WIVB4 reports that his trial is now scheduled for March 12 due to additional unnamed charges he is now facing.

After testifying against him in court, Fiske says that she has begun to find closure for the devastating chain of events he caused. "It was very empowering for me to face him and say what he had done ... and look him in the face while I said that," she told WIVB4.
