The story of the abduction and release of "super mom" Sherri Papini has had America captivated. While she was missing, we cried for her husband and young kids. When she was released and found physically safe on Thanksgiving morning, we cried happy tears for the family. We thought about them, but we also thought about ourselves, our sisters, our friends ... and our kids. Could such a thing happen to us or those we love? How would we endure? What would it be like to get that call? That call where we discovered our missing loved one was found ALIVE? And what would it be like to tell your child you found his or her missing parent that you worried may be gone forever?

In a new sneak peek from a forthcoming 20/20 interview, Keith Papini described that first emotional phone conversation, in which he reconnected with his wife Sherri after three heart-achingly long weeks of not knowing where she was or if she was alive. He talked about hearing his wife's voice for the first time since she went missing. And he also shared how he got to tell his kids that their mom was coming home.

"My home phone rang. I pick it up, and it was very mixed emotion. It was my wife screaming in the background, yelling my name," said Keith. "And a CHP [California High Patrol] officer, he said, 'I need you to be calm. I need you to be calm.' ... I already know it's her. I can tell her voice."

Later in the video [around 2:47], Keith also described the moment he told their 4-year-old son, Tyler, the good news about Sherri. "I was on my knees and he was standing up, and I said, 'You know what, buddy? I found mom.'"

Can we all pause here for a minute and cry our eyes out?

Keith went on to say, "[Tyler] got the biggest grin and he started [looking around] like, where is she?" Keith then told their 2-year-old daughter, Violet. She's pretty young so she probably didn't really get it until her mom could hold her again. Keith told ABC News, that in captivity, Sherri cradled a piece of cloth as if it were her daughter Violet. He said that kept her going psychologically.

It's almost too gut-wrenching to fathom.
