Mom Charged With Abuse After Allegedly Inking Her 12 & 13-Year-Old Sons

You have to be freaking kidding me. A mom has been arrested for allegedly tattooing her two sons' hands. The boys are only 12 and 13 years old. There are so many things wrong with this story it's hard to know where to begin.

Deputies at the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office in New York arrested Chantilly L. Thomas after investigating a tip on the mistreatment of her sons. When they arrived, they saw that the boys' hands had been inked -- illegally and dangerously -- and took her into custody.

The 13-year-old had a lightning bolt tattooed on the back of his hand (Harry Potter fan? Or go Chargers?), and even more depressingly, the younger boy had "Ride of Die" on the back of his.

Police say that she used a tattoo gun, although she's not licensed for it. Putting aside how awful it is that she permanently scarred her kids both physically and probably emotionally, she put them in danger.

Tattooing is an art, and it takes special training; safety procedures must be followed. Did she even change out the needles in between sessions? What if they got infected? Would she have taken them to the doctor? It seems like the kind of parent that would tattoo her adolescent child wouldn't be big on the doctor's office.

And who the heck tattoos "Ride or Die" on their 12-year-old's hand? How messed up is that? I don't care how much he may or may not have wanted it, this woman clearly acted stupidly.

I really hope that this is the worst that these kids will have to deal with. It's unclear what exactly the cops were called for, so that unfortunately makes me think that there's more than just illegal tattooing of children at play here. Hopefully the authorities can intervene and get these poor kiddos properly cared for.

No kid should have to deal with a messed-up parent who tattoos him.
