Beauty Queen Fakes Cancer & Makes Thousands Off Fundraisers Held in Her Honor (VIDEO)

pageant queenWhen it comes to stories of people doing horrible things for personal gain, this one is right up there with the worst of them: A 23-year-old Pennsylvania beauty queen is in jail on charges that she faked having leukemia to benefit from fundraisers! Nothing beautiful about that!

According to court records, Brandi Lee Weaver-Gates of State College was arraigned Tuesday on charges of "theft by deception and receiving stolen property" after state police were tipped off to the pageant winner's ongoing scam, which included making off with $14,000 from an April bingo benefit held in her honor. Weaver-Gates is currently being held on $150,000 bail, but once she's released, she'll be forced to return her crown and sash to Miss Pennsylvania U.S. International, which said on its website that it was "led to believe that she was dealing with this horrible disease."

The whole thing sounds bad enough on the surface, but it's when you hear the details of the ridiculously great lengths Weaver-Gates went to in order to convince everyone she was sick that you start to realize how utterly criminal her deception truly was. First of all, not only has the pageant queen been keeping up this scheme for years, she even tricked her own sister into believing that she had cancer -- by allegedly shaving her head and taking trips to hospitals including Johns Hopkins in Baltimore! (Investigators who contacted the hospitals said they were told she never received treatment.)

Wow. What in the world would motivate a person to do such a thing?? It's got to go beyond a need for money -- there must be easier, less creepy ways to swindle people out of thousands of dollars. There have to be some deeper issues at play here, issues I can't even begin to fathom -- but no matter what her reasons were, absolutely nothing would even begin to justify this kind of lie. And what about all the people who donated money?? I would be unbelievably furious, and I'm sure they are, too. Check out this video to see pics of Weaver-Gates with a shaved head and surgical mask -- it's truly enough to turn your stomach.

One thing's for sure -- Weaver-Gates may not have cancer, but she's definitely "sick." Let's hope justice is served here, swiftly.
