A Florida mother of four is under arrest and charged with attempted murder after police say she instructed her children to remove their seat belts shortly before driving the family van into a tree on Thursday. Calicia Williams, 36, and her four children, who range in age from 7 to 13, were all injured in the crash, but they miraculously survived, despite the intense nature of the accident.

Police in Ocala, Florida, say the mom was speeding in the moments leading up to the crash, and gave her children specific instructions.

They were to remove their seat belts, she reportedly said -- and reach their hands out in front of them.

"The devil can't hurt you, he only hurts bad people," said Williams, according to a police report obtained by CNN. "You have the light of Jesus in you and only Jesus can cure us."

Seconds later, she slammed her white Pontiac minivan into a palm tree, totaling the car in the process.

Everyone in the vehicle luckily survived, but when police showed up at the scene of the crash, things only seemed to get weirder.

Williams, who had left the van and was standing beside it, seemed "agitated" when officers arrived and spun quite the tale when they asked her what happened. She reportedly "kept rambling on about spells and voodoo," and ultimately blamed her husband for the crash, saying he'd put a hex on her.

Needless to say, cops weren't buying that story. But details at the crime scene -- and follow-up interviews with her children -- quickly pointed them to the truth.

"(D)ue to tire and furrow marks in the median it appeared the Pontiac was steering directly toward the tree that was struck," the investigator at the site reported.

Williams later admitted to having marijuana in her system at the time of the crash, and seemed to imply she was distracted by people following her.

The police report noted that Williams believed she was "being followed by a lot of people in cars and she was trying to read all their tag numbers."

Corie Byrd, a spokesperson for the Ocala Police Department, said the children included three girls and one boy, who were all taken to a hospital and treated for their injuries. All are non-life-threatening.

"These kids are very, very lucky to be alive," Byrd said, before adding that the mother's actions were hard to comprehend. "It makes you want to hold your kids tight, and it's unfathomable why a mother would want to do this."

Incredibly, even though Williams told her children to remove their seat belts, investigators believe she left hers on.

Seat belt marks found on her neck are what ultimately led them to this conclusion, according to WKMG.

Crash site investigators also said there didn't appear to be any signs the mother of four attempted to brake or even slow down before her van hopped the median and hit the palm tree head-on.

Once Williams is released from the hospital, she's expected to be booked at the county jail without bail.

"Hopefully this mother gets the help that she needs and the kids get the help that they need," Byrd said.
