Mom Slams On Brakes to Stop Kids' Fight & Gets What She Deserved (VIDEO)

Lorena Sullivan Simpson slams on brakes

Have you ever been driving while your children are in the midst of a screaming argument in the car? Most parents have, but take caution from today’s news story about a mom charged with child abuse in Port St. Lucie, Florida, who decided to slam on the brakes in order to teach her kids a lesson.

Lorena Sullivan Simpson, 43, was driving with her 12-year-old daughter in the front seat and her 9-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter in the back when she allegedly slammed on the brakes of her car in order to break up their fight. That’s when her daughter, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, went flying into the windshield with enough force to crack the glass.

According to Simpson, she didn’t mean to hurt anyone:

I didn't on purpose or intentionally harm my daughter.

Right — except not only was the child not wearing a safety belt, she complained of dizziness and a headache (maybe because she BROKE THE GLASS WITH HER HEAD?) and her mom didn’t bother to take her to a doctor.

Here’s a video with the mom defending her actions:

Simpson says she had no idea anything was amiss until officials from the Department of Children and Families showed up with police three days later:

There was no bump, so I'm sorry but I guess I did the wrong thing.

That’s when she was arrested for child abuse. Oh, but if you were thinking at any point in time this mom actually realized she did something wrong and felt remorse ... yeah, not so much. Regarding the charges, she said,

I thought, ‘Oh, my god. You gotta be kidding me.’

Simpson posted a $2,000 bond and was released from the St. Lucie County Jail the same day. She’s reportedly “heartbroken” about losing her kids, who are now with their father in Kentucky.

She says she was only driving at 10 miles per hour, didn’t know her daughter was unbuckled, and didn’t realize the girl was injured from hitting the glass — but all of that is pretty hard to believe, isn’t it? I just can’t muster any sympathy for her. Not only did she put her kids in danger, coming to a sudden stop like that was a reckless move no matter WHO was in the car. There are approximately a million safer ways to deal with arguing kids ... and I’m sure facing felony charges will give her plenty of time to consider better options for the future.

Do you think being slapped with child abuse charges is too severe a punishment for this mom?
