Mom Arrested for Trying to Kill 3 Kids 'Changed' After Husband's Return From War

An Army wife has been arrested for the attempted murder of her three little children. Police say that 29-year-old Christina Booth slashed the throats of her three children, a toddler aged 2 and 6-month-old twins.

Booth, whose husband is on active duty, reportedly called 911 and told dispatchers that her three daughters were crying and bleeding from their necks. Police arrived to find the kids' throats slashed. They were rushed to the hospital and fortunately are improving after surgery.

Booth's husband, Tommy, is a US Army staff sergeant at Joint Base Lewis-McChord near Tacoma, Washington.

Neighbors say that Booth seemed happy until the birth of her twins, when she changed and became somewhat of a recluse in their Olympia home. One neighbor told KIRO-TV:

I have to assume that she felt trapped in some way in her situation.

Another noted that it must have been extremely difficult having three children under age 2. This was also about the time that Tommy returned home from Afghanistan. So you can only imagine that there was a lot going on in that house.

None of us knows exactly what happened, but postpartum psychosis wouldn't be out of the question. It's unclear what kind of support system the Booth family had, or if Christina Booth even felt comfortable asking for help. So many women think they need to do it all, or they're failures. It's so important to not be ashamed to seek out help and support.

How tragic that this mom may wake up one day, even today, out of the fog of postpartum to realize what she's allegedly done.

The children are now in protective custody.

Do you think this was postpartum psychosis?
