At Least 100 Children Killed in Terrorist Attack on School for Military Families (VIDEO)

Imagine another Sandy Hook school massacre, but even worse. That is what Pakistan is facing today as reports say that nine masked gunmen stormed a school for military children in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar and killed over 130 people, most of them children.

The gunmen, believed to be Taliban, reportedly forced children to watch their teacher being burned alive, blew up a room containing over 60 children, and shot other children. There are even rumors some of the children were beheaded.

A 10-year-old boy told the Daily Mail Online about the terrifying moment the crazed gunmen burst into the school:

It was our social studies period. Our teacher first told us that some kind of drill was going on and that we do not need to worry. It was very intense firing. Then the sound came closer. Then we heard cries. One of our friends opened the window of the class. He started weeping as there were several school fellows lying on the ground outside the class.

Everybody was in panic. Two of our class fellows ran outside class in panic. They were shot in front of us.

The little boy was somehow able to run from the classroom while holding his friend's hand. They escaped. But many, many more were not as fortunate.

Reportedly, all of the gunmen were eventually killed.

The school was the Army Public School and Degree College, which taught children ages 10 to 18. Most of the children are sons and daughters of military personnel.

The school houses up to 1,000 children, and most of them were able to escape during the siege. But that is no comfort for the vast amount of innocent lives lost.

It's clear that terrorists will go after the most innocent and vulnerable of citizens. The Taliban, who also shot Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai when she was 14 in the face, care absolutely nothing for children. In fact, some experts believe the attack was in revenge for Yousafzai becoming so popular. Most reports say the attack was in revenge for the military launching an attack against the Taliban.

Our hearts go out to the Pakistanis. Unfortunately, we too understand the slaughter of innocent children all too well.
