3-Year-Old Was Allegedly Tortured for Days By Parents Before Being Killed

A 3-year-old boy from West Caln, Pennsylvania, was allegedly tortured for weeks before he was killed by two people he should have trusted the most in the world -- his mother and her boyfriend.

In a case the prosecutor has called "an American horror story," little Scott McMillan was found dead by his mother Jillian Tait, 31, after three days of unbelievable torture he was made to endure by both his mom and 23-year-old Gary Lee Fellenbaum. She had recently met Gary while working at Wal-Mart and had moved in with him last month. Fellenbaum reportedly told police he felt "disrespected" by the toddler and reacted to the child's refusal to eat breakfast one morning in a way that might make you question his humanity.

Tait reportedly confessed to police that she and Fellenbaum began beating Scott on Sunday. The next morning, the man allegedly punched him in the stomach and face because he didn't want to eat the toast they made for him for breakfast. Their abuse reportedly included throwing the child against a wall. On Tuesday, Tait says Scott's face was so swollen from the beating that he couldn't eat -- so they allegedly beat him again for refusing food.

My stomach feels sick just typing that much -- but I'm afraid to say there's more.

Tait and Fellenbaum reportedly tied Scott to a chair using electrical tape so that he would stop moving. He became unresponsive, so they reportedly put him under a shower for more than 30 minutes in an attempt to revive him. They couldn't. Instead of getting him help, they reportedly laid him on an air mattress and went shopping and to grab pizza. When they got home, they apparently didn't even bother looking in on the son they left unconscious and instead had sex and took a nap.

Later that day, Tait reportedly decided she should have a look at Scott -- and that's when she found him dead. She screamed for help and -- get ready for even more crazy -- Fellenbaum's 21-year-old wife was the one who called 911.

Police say they discovered Scott with blood coming out of his nose and ears and with puncture wounds and bruises on his body.

The couple allegedly decided to raise their children together -- Scott's older brother is 6 and Fellenbaum has an 11-month-old daughter with his estranged wife, who also moved into their trailer with them. Fellenbaum apparently thought it was his responsibility to "discipline" Tait's sons. His punishments seem to have included hanging Scott and his brother upside down from the back of a door and beating them with homemade whips, a curtain rod, an aluminum strip, and a frying pan -- as Tait reportedly watched and laughed.

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I feel sick reading about what has happened to these children and how this poor angel died at the hands of these monsters who were supposed to love and protect him.

Tait and Fellenbaum were arraigned Thursday and charged with murder and aggravated assault for abusing Scott's brother. The baby is reportedly uninjured.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. I am usually against capital punishment but am finding it difficult to decide whether it would be more fitting for these two to be put to death or live the rest of their days in prison having to think about what they did to these innocent children.

Do you think these parents deserve the death penalty if they are found guilty?
