HIV-Positive Woman Accused of Trying to Infect Wal-Mart Worker While Shoplifting

A woman in Dallas who is HIV-positive reportedly tried to infect a Wal-Mart employee with the virus that causes AIDS while attempting to steal frozen food.

Diamond Lawrence, 25, was arrested and is being held on $1,500 bail after police say she walked into a Wal-Mart and tried to swipe $11 worth of frozen food from the mega chain. When an employee stopped her outside and escorted her back in, she allegedly did the unthinkable -- and made a threat that is not to be believed.

Lawrence, who was wearing a medical wristband that identifies her as a person with HIV, reportedly announced to the employee that she was HIV-positive and said, "I can infect whomever I please."

The woman then allegedly hit the worker in the face and scratched his neck -- which police say they think was her attempt to draw blood and infect him with the virus. She also reportedly kept saying, in a sarcastic tone, "You're welcome" after she attacked him.

The good news is that the employee was checked by doctors and it seems bodily fluids were not exchanged during the frightening confrontation.

Since Wal-Mart doesn't actually prosecute shoppers for stealing small items, the store obviously asked that Lawrence never return. And because she had two outstanding arrest warrants for public intoxication and driving with an invalid license, cops were able to take her in. It sounds like she may need help as well as jail time -- let's hope she gets it so that this never happens again.

What consequence do you think this woman deserves for reportedly trying to infect the worker with HIV?
