hannah grahamCharlottesville, Virginia, Police Chief Timothy Longo wiped tears from his eyes as he held a press conference to share that human remains have been found during the search for Hannah Graham, the 18-year-old University of Virginia sophomore who has been missing since September 13. Tests will be conducted to confirm whether or not the body is that of Graham's who disappeared after becoming lost when looking for a house party. Surveillance tape revealed she was being followed and there is a suspect in custody. The remains were found on abandoned property where another student was found dead.

Graham's parents have been notified of the findings as they await word from forensics. Police Chief Longo said a search team from the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office discovered the human remains in the southern part of Albemarle County on the same property where 20-year-old Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington's remains were found in 2010. Harrington went missing almost exactly five years ago, on October 17, 2009.

More From The Stir: Hannah Graham Suspect Linked to Murder of Another College Student (VIDEO)

Thirty-two-year-old Jesse L. Matthew Jr. was identified on that surveillance tape that showed him speaking with and putting his arm around Graham. Initially when police called Matthew in to be questioned, he fled the state. He was tracked down and claimed that he had only bought Hannah drinks. The police collected his DNA and took him into custody saying their findings gave them a "significant break" in the case of Harrington, as well as a link to a rape in 2012. Matthew was also named in a sexual assault case in 2003, and accused of rape in another case when he was a college student but the person didn't follow through with prosecution. Matthew is charged with abduction with intent to defile Graham.

Albermarle County Police Chief Steve Sellers said:

Today's discovery is a significant development and we have a great deal of work ahead of us. We cannot and we will not jump to any conclusions regarding today's discovery, so I ask for the public's patience as we move forward and pursue what is now a new ongoing death investigation.

What a heart-wrenching discovery, which may give us some answers but also many more questions. My thoughts go out to the Graham family who are waiting word to hear if the remains are of their daughter. My thoughts are also with the Harringtons who may get some answers regarding what happened to their daughter five years ago.

Do you think Matthew is responsible for the disappearance of both women?
