Pastor Confesses to Sex With Parishioners Even Though He Knew He Had AIDS

Well this is absolutely horrifying and will make you wonder what the heck is wrong with people in this world. Apparently former pastor of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Montogomery, Alabama, Juan Demetrius McFarland, confessed that he had AIDS -- then he confessed he had sex with church members without telling his partners he had AIDS.

He apparently took the pulpit and revealed at the church on September 14 that he got HIV in 2003 and was diagnosed with AIDS in 2008. Church deacon Nathan Williams Jr. told a local news outlet, "He concealed from the church that he had knowingly engaged in adultery in the church building with female members of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church while knowingly having AIDS."

On top of that, he also admitted to drug use and misusing church funds. Not surprising considering the moral compass this guy seems to lack.

He was inevitably removed as the church's pastor on October 5. Reportedly, he even had the church's support initially, but obviously the line was drawn when he confessed to sleeping with parishioners. Of course the congregation is in complete and utter disbelief and nervous about coming forward.

"I know a young lady who is a member of the church who says she has slept with him and that she didn't want this to go public, and she running out now trying to find out if there is anything wrong with her," one of the church members reportedly said. "And my heart goes out to her because she's been a wonderful church member, and then for something like this to happen. The fact that he didn't tell them at all. That's a crime in itself."

As for how the church itself is responding? "Our moves are going to come directly from counsel. We want peace and we want to do things right, legally," Williams said. "We are not looking to hurt him. We are looking to get the church back. That's our theme: Get the church back. We want the church back. That's it."

Still, others are hoping for more justice than that. Per the local police department, "Transmitting a Sexually Transmitted Disease" is a Class C Misdemeanor, so he could potentially get arrested. Considering it seems that he knowingly put people in harm's way, one would hope something more would happen than him losing his job if everything turns out to be true.

WSFA 12 News actually verified all of this with McFarland on the phone. It seems he was okay with confirming this insane confession he made to his parishioners. So sickening and so scary. If we can't trust our pastors, who can we trust? Apparently McFarland is also Moderator with the Alabama Middle District Baptist Association, which is comprised of 34 churches. It seems that there have been no discussions to remove him as of yet. Let's hope they get to that soon! If what he says he did turns out to be true, he is a menace.

Our compassion goes out to everyone affected by this unbelievable scandal.

What do you think should be done with this former pastor?
