Mom Arrested For Driving with Kids on Top of Car Wanted to Protect Seats (VIDEO)

Oh, that summertime dilemma when you pick your kids up from the pool, but don't want them getting your seats wet. You can towel them down, but their suits will still be wet. You can put towels on the seat, but those will get wet too. What to do, what to do? Oh right, you can put your kids on top of your car! This is allegedly what a 39-year-old mom from Texas, Kisha Young, decided to do when she didn't want her precious seats getting damp after picking up six kids from a local pool, some of whom belonged to her. The kids were placed on the truck and roof of the car for the ride home. All was well until Young turned a corner and, well, you can guess what happened next.

Witnesses who saw the bizarre sight say that as the car turned a corner, four of the six, ages 8 to 14, kids fell off. One of Young's kids, a 12-year-old girl, now has a severe head injury and remains in the hospital.

Young wasn't the only mom who thought this ridiculous plan was apparently just fine -- the mom of the other kids was in the passenger seat of the car. She may have charges against her too.

And would you be surprised to know that Young failed a field sobriety test at the scene? Blood alcohol levels have not yet been determined. Young was arrested on suspicion of intoxication assault, a third-degree felony.

Now, perhaps this seemed like some kind of harmless idea to the two clueless moms -- after all, the trip home was only about a minute away. But in what world can children grip onto a truck? Or a roof?

Not to mention whether or not another car might have come along and barreled into them?

This is the kind of thing that perhaps would have been acceptable "back in the day" -- whatever day that was -- but definitely not today when we know a little bit more about child safety.

CPS has been called in and will investigate. If this was a one-time thing, the moms need parenting classes stat. Seriously, prioritizing your car sears over your kids is wacko. But if there's more neglect here, then that needs to be looked into. A mom in jail isn't ideal either.

Do you think the mom should go to jail?
