Missing 8-Year-Old's Accused Abductor Found Dead in Park But Where Is the Girl?

A tragic twist in the case of missing 8-year-old Relisha Tenau Rudd may mean the worse for the little girl, who has been missing from the homeless shelter she lived in with her family since February 26. She is believed to have been abducted by Kahlil Tatum, who worked as a janitor at the shelter, and was the last person to have been seen with Relisha, when they were caught on surveillance video in the hallway of a Washington, D.C., hotel. Tatum is believed to have murdered his wife shortly before allegedly kidnapping the girl.

Despite dwindling hopes, investigators and Relisha's family held out hope that the spunky little girl would be found alive. But those hopes have dwindled even more as Tatum's dead body was found in a local park, police said. He is believed to have committed suicide.

Unfortunately, before his suicide, he reportedly purchased items at a store that indicate he may have killed Relisha -- including garbage bags and lime, which can speed up the decomposition of a body.

Police had been searching the park for Relisha after getting a tip that Tatum had been spending time there, possibly preparing for burying a body. But they didn't find Relisha, they found Tatum.

Previously, police had said that Relisha had been willingly left in the care of Tatum by her mother for up to a month. It's unclear why, but it was clearly a very, very, very bad idea.

I'm sure I'm not the only one holding out hope that Relisha is alive somewhere and that this very twisted man spared her life before taking his own and that she is somewhere awaiting her rescue.

Do you think she is still alive?
