Teen Abducted by Two Men Returned Safely to Her Family

Awesome news out of Atlanta, Georgia today. The 14-year-old girl who was abducted by two men out of her home as her mom helplessly watched has been found and reunited with her family. Ayvani Hope Perez was taken at gunpoint from her home after armed intruders reportedly burst into the home around 2 a.m. on Tuesday. When they couldn't find money or valuables, they shot the family dog and kidnapped Ayvani. But, miraculously, the tireless efforts of law enforcement at the local, state, and federal level, as well as the help of the media and community, who got the word out early, have resulted in this young girl being returned unharmed to her family.

Details were sketchy because the investigation is still ongoing -- and, in fact, police say that two suspects are still at large -- but here's what law enforcement said so far:

- Ayvani has been safely returned to her family.

- It is believed that Ayvani is unharmed; however, she is still being evaluated. She was found in Conyers, Georgia.

- Two men have been arrested under suspicion of kidnapping Ayvani; however, they have not been charged with the kidnapping and are being held on other charges.

- While two men have been arrested, these are apparently NOT the two men who were in the sketches released to the public. Those men are still at large and are being sought by police.

- The FBI would not address reports that there was a ransom involved in the kidnapping -- with as much as $100,000 being demanded.

- Police would not address several questions about the men's relationship to the family and whether specifically Ayvani's mother knew the men, and whether the kidnapping was random or plotted.

- There was no violence involved in the arrest of the suspects.

There are obviously more details that will be forthcoming, and there are two suspects still on the loose; however, as the police spokesman said, "This is a good day." So many children do not make it out of this kind of situation alive, it is astonishingly good news that Ayvani did.

Are you happy to hear she made it safely home?
