Mall Parking Lot Fight With 100 Teens Was Handled Brilliantly (VIDEO)

mall parking lotLooks like someone needs something to do this summer. A group of over 100 teens ascended on the Lauderhill Mall parking lot Tuesday afternoon to ostensibly get in a giant fight. The mall was put on partial lockdown for a couple of hours while police successfully took control of the scene. According to reports, the group gathered because of a previous fight involving two girls, the Trayvon Martin case, and to apparently settle some "beef." Word spread on social media that kids were to meet up in the Florida mall's parking lot and yada yada yada, the cops were called.

There were, however, no arrests. One 16-year-old boy was taken to the hospital with a cut on his forehead, but that's as bad as things got.

But it could've been way worse. Even the smallest act of violence could have set anyone off and I'm glad to see everyone remained mostly calm, especially the cops. So many circumstances like these have been made worse when the authorities use too much force or pressure when trying to diffuse the situation -- thank goodness the police weren't the spark that turned this giant fight into something way bigger and way more violent.

It was the first time the cops were called to this mall to break up a fight, and hopefully the last.

As any mother looking at this gathering of teens might say ... if they have time to fight in a mall parking lot, they certainly have time to clean their rooms, or find a summer job, or take their little sister to the pool.

Parking lot kerfuffles are not the best way to pass the time before September. You heard it here first.

What do you think?
