Texas Mom Gives Carjacker Lesson He'll Never Forget for Messing With Her Kids (VIDEO)

mom who fought carjacker Dorothy Baker America, we have a new viral catchphrase thanks to the heroic Texas mother of two who tangled with a carjacker over the weekend and ended up running him over to protect her kids! The way Dorothy Baker Flugence tells it, the knife-wielding attacker "messed with the wrong witch."

That's one way of putting it. Or you could just say he got what was coming to him ...

If you've ever wondered what the difference is between a hero and a regular joe (or jane), I think this mom just gave us the answer: sometimes it's just circumstances.

According to the heroic mom's account to police, while she was shopping at a CVS with her two sons, ages 2 and 5, a guy cops have now identified as Ismael Martinez hid in her minivan. When she got back into the car, Martinez allegedly threatened her with a knife.

The two wrestled, and the mom had to think fast about how to save her kids. As she told ABC:

I thought, 'If you swerve and hit the pole, he's not wearing a seatbelt, he'll go through the windshield or at least hit his head, and you can stop him. You can do something to make sure that he doesn't hurt your kids.' That's all I was thinking of, really, was just to get him away from my kids.

After the initial encounter, Martinez apparently tried to run off, which is when it seems he was run over by mom's minivan, a move she says was accidental.

Whether it was an accident or an "accident" (wink, wink, nudge, nudge), I'm in awe of Dorothy Baker Flugence right about now.

Here she is with her two kids and no weapon up against a guy with a knife. She could have folded. She could have driven to an ATM, let the guy have all her money, let him have her car ... ANYTHING to just leave her and the kids alone.

That she didn't is the miracle here.

It's not something anyone could have planned for because, of course, no one plans to be carjacked. Even if we could map out what to do in case of a carjacking, the circumstances of every crime are different. Maybe your kids will be in the car. Maybe not. Maybe the attacker will have a knife. Maybe it will be a gun. Maybe they'll want money. Maybe they'll want your car.

This is the reality of heroism: it all comes down to the circumstances at hand and how you react to them.

Before this weekend, Dorothy Baker Flugence was just a regular jane with two kids who had to make a run to CVS.

After, she's a national hero with a new catchphrase making the rounds of the interwebs.

It all came down to circumstance ... and a woman with the guts to jump in with both feet when the time came.

Watch this mom explain her harrowing ordeal:

What would you have done in her position?
