Soldier Reportedly Beheaded on Busy Street in Broad Daylight (VIDEO)

crime scene tapeToday in London a gruesome scene played out on a busy city street. According to reports, there around 2:20 p.m. a British soldier was on his way back to the barracks after working a shift at an Army recruitment office when he was brutally hacked to death and beheaded by two men thought to be Islamist terrorists.

Witnesses recounted the  attack to The Telegraph, saying the men first ran him over with a car then started attacking him with knives and a meat cleaver as if they were "trying to remove organs." Some say they thought the men (one of whom was wearing a shirt that read "Help for Heroes") was trying to help the solider until they got closer and realized the horrific act going on.

A witness recorded an eerie statement from one of the suspects who was holding bloody weapons while he spoke.

We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you until you leave us alone. Your people will never be safe. The only reason we have done this because Muslims are dying by British soldiers every day.

We must fight them as they fight us. An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. I apologise that women had to witness this today but in our lands our women have to see the same. You people will never be safe. Remove your government, they don’t care about you.

Absolutely chilling. When police arrived the men -- who seemed to wait for their arrival -- were reportedly shot. They're currently being guarded in two separate hospitals.

While other terrorist acts have taken out more people, the personal and public nature of this one is terrifying. While we may have security checks on airplanes, there's pretty much nothing directly preventing anyone from doing something like this on any street in London, America, or anywhere else in the world.

This happened in broad daylight, with crowds of people around. These terrorists know no fear, and while we must refuse to live in fear because of them, acts like this and like the recent Boston bombing make that more and more difficult. More importantly, however, they must make us more vigilant and determined to fight them.

Following is part of the video recorded from one of the suspects as well as some images from the scene. Warning: It's extremely graphic.

Do incidents like this make you fearful?
