Gunshot Victim Finds Partying Nurses Just in the Nick of Time

triageWhen a man enters a bar yelling about a shot, you expect he'd like something along the lines of a Jack Daniel's, not a tourniquet, but it was the latter that the unidentified 22-year-old guy needed when he stumbled into Maxwell's pub in Minneapolis on Sunday. He'd been shot six times, was bleeding profusely, and was looking for help, any help whatsoever. What he got instead was more like a godsend.

Inside the crowded bar were six off-duty nurses who knew exactly how to handle his kind of injuries and who weren't afraid to spring into action.

Is this guy not the luckiest unlucky guy on the planet, or what?

It's like something out of a bad movie where the hero gets shot and we all think he'll never survive, then suddenly he just happens to find his way into the one barn/bar/hardware store in town that has six nurses hanging out inside. Come on. Totally unlikely.

But as they say, reality is stranger than fiction. Not only were there six nurses at the bar, they were in groups of two, and had no idea that the other four even existed. They were like some covert dream team assembled together, but separately, to down a pint, lament about the Vikings loss, then tear off a gunshot victim's pants and use his belt to stop the intense blood loss from his femoral artery.

It's been reported that the bar staff and the nurses worked like a well-oiled machine until the ambulance got there and took the victim to the hospital.

So far, there's no news on why this guy was shot at the gas station in the first place, but no matter what the circumstances, I bet he can thank the heavens above that the stars aligned and pointed him into a nurse-filled bar.

I mean, I couldn't feel luckier if I stumbled into a bar filled with Ryan Gosling, Kate Middleton, Oprah, Eddie Redmayne, and Papa John. Whoever this mystery gunshot victim is, he's surely one of the most fortunate bastards ever.

What's the luckiest thing that's ever happened to you?
