UPDATE: The Connecticut school shooter, originally identified as Ryan Lanza, is now according to AP, being identified as Adam Lanza. Ryan Lanza is said to be the 24-year-old brother of 20-year-old Adam. We will keep you posted as new information emerges.

Not many details were released at the first press conference about the horrific shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, today, and with good reason: State police Lt. Paul Vance said no further information would be released until they were certain the families of those killed were properly notified. But sources have identified the shooter as Ryan Lanza, 24, of Hoboken, New Jersey. Lanza, who is suspected of killing 26 people (20 children and at least 6 adults), died on the scene (cause and manner of death are pending, say police). He was wearing "dark clothing, a mask, a bulletproof vest, and was carrying four guns."

Also according to sources (but not yet confirmed officially): Lanza's mother, who had been a kindergarten teacher at the school, was found dead on the premises.

More from The Stir: Newtown Tragedy Is the Reason All Schools Should Have Shooting Drills

Other current unconfirmed rumors: Another possible family member might have been found dead in a Newtown home. Ryan's younger (?) brother Adam might be on the scene as well.

We'll keep you updated as these rumors are confirmed or dismissed.
