Police Questioning Man for One Murder Find Another Woman Stabbed on His Bed

Lucius CrawfordLucius Crawford is a man from New York with a rap sheet a mile long for his many and varied crimes against women. Two days ago, police went to his home to question the parolee about an unsolved murder from 1993 and they found another woman stabbed nine times in the chest under a sheet on his bed. Sorry, but you think you MIGHT have arrived a little sooner?

I am not necessarily blaming the police for not nabbing this guy earlier in the 1993 murder. It was DNA evidence that finally linked him as a suspect. But I am saying that he never should have been out in the first place. Sure, he hasn't been convicted yet, but a stabbed woman on your bed and two OTHER confessions to murders in 1993 are pretty damning.

And that's not even counting what he HAS been convicted for. Let's run through it, shall we?

  • In 1973, he served three years for stabbing a woman.
  • In 1977, he got 24 years in prison for stabbing five young women.
  • In 1991, just after he was out, he got 184 days MORE days in jail for assaulting an ex-girlfriend.
  • He went on parole five years ago after serving 13 years in prison for stabbing his 31-year-old co-worker 13 times.

I am sorry, but what the HELL was this man doing out of prison? What does he have to do to prove he is a complete menace to society?

Most of the time, I believe in our justice system and I believe it's the best possible way to protect people and give us our rights. Even criminals and alleged criminals should have some rights. But the idea that a man THIS violent was allowed on the streets is pretty disconcerting.

Obviously, he is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law whether he confessed or not, but we really need to get better in this country about repeat offenders. A person with a rap sheet like this shouldn't have been able to remove his ankle bracelet and violate his parole. That means innocent people potentially die.

Maybe I am naive, but I guess I thought criminals THIS violent stayed locked up. If stabbing this many women, repeatedly, every time you are released from prison isn't enough to keep you in prison for life, what is?

My heart goes out to the families of the three women he allegedly murdered. I can't even imagine the fury and anger that would come from knowing a man like this was allowed to stay on the streets.

Do you think he should have been in prison for life already?
