Another day, another celeb mom coming under fire for her child. Jessica Simpson's new photo of her daughter Maxwell was meant to show off the 7-year-old's sense of fashion. Sadly, it's turned into an opportunity for critics to not only side-eye the young girl's choice of clothing and ultimately Jess's parenting choices as well.

  • Maxwell Drew is ready for the next chapter of her academic career: the second grade.

The 7-year-old bid adieu to the first grade in what looked to be quite the stylish ensemble. (Maxwell Drew has some serious style, just like her mama.)

Maxwell is Jessica Simpson's first child with hubby Eric Johnson. She's big sister to Ace Knute, 5, and newest addition, Birdie Mae, whom Jess and Eric welcomed on March 19.

This is one well-styled celebrity kid! Given Jessica's uber successful fashion brand, we wonder if there's a possible collab (maybe a mommy-daughter line?) in the near future. We're pretty sure it would sell out instantly!

  • Others aren't here for it and think the look is too grown-up for a 7-year-old.

For some reason, people think Maxwell looks older than she is. Her top covers her belly. Her shorts aren't short enough to show the pockets. (She does have long legs, but is that a crime?) And there's no "toe cleavage" of any sort. There's even accusations she's wearing makeup, but we don't think that's the case. (It's likely the lighting.)

  • Can we let this little girl be?

We're sure Jessica is on top of her daughter's image and chooses things she deems to be age-appropriate. Rather than criticize her (again and again) for her parenting decisions, is it that hard to just celebrate her kid moving up a grade and finally being done with school?
