Country Music Star Carrie Underwood's 'Soccer Mom' Photo Sparks Controversy
Yes, we're guilty of it, too: the shameless selfie, meant to document an exciting moment in our lives — or just a day when we're feeling our look. So we can relate to the sweet, smiley photo of soccer mom Carrie Underwood at her son Isaiah's soccer game. The 40-year-old singer, who has spoken openly about her facial scarring following a 2017 accident, probably thought she was sharing a lighthearted moment but unfortunately, not everyone felt the same way.
Carrie's photo showed her by the field, bundled up with a coffee cup in her hand.
"Officially a soccer mom this morning!" Carrie Underwood captioned the Instagram pic, before revealing that she was "staying warm" in her own clothing line, CALIA by Carrie. Apparently, her son Isaiah "scored two goals for his team … and one for the other team." (Woo-hoo!)
To many, the photo looked like a typical selfie on the sidelines — but a number of people took the opportunity to criticize Carrie.
Judging by the comments, people were confused as to why the celeb mom didn't post a photo of her son — though it's important to remember that many celebrities don't share pics of their children in an effort to protect their privacy.
And as expected, there were jabs about Carrie's scar from her accident — along with accusations she's dabbled in plastic surgery.
Looks like we can add her to the growing list of celebrities accused of getting plastic surgery.
(Sheesh.)
Can't we all just get along?
We hope Carrie ignores the haters and continues sharing selfies while doing her soccer mom thing. (And more adorable mom life photos wouldn't hurt, either!)
