In a world where many of us are fighting for a #fedisbest way of life, one would think we could get to a place where a mom could do what she needed to nourish her baby. Sadly, that doesn't look to be the case as Kat Von D asking for breast milk donations is coming under fire -- with some even going as far to call the notion "gross."

  • Kat, who just welcomed her son, Leafar Seyes, took to Instagram to reveal a health issue that required her to find breast milk.

Kat Von D revealed she gave birth to Leafar, her first child with musician husband Rafael Reyes, on Sunday.

  • "During the first two days of Leafar’s life, his blood sugar count had been low ..." the new mom revealed in her post.

"... [A]nd as much as I had committed myself to strictly breastfeed, my milk hadn't come in yet," Kat Von D added. "The pediatrician suggested asking around to see if any friends might have a bit of extra milk they could donate -- and if not, I'd have to consider supplementing with formula -- something we personally did not want to do."

The new mom decided to reach out to her midwife who put her in touch with Morgan Campbell of Matters of Motherhood who, "without question, stepped up and donated a few ounces" for Leafar to use.

"Needless to say, Leafar's levels boosted, and we are now happily breastfeeding at home," Kat wrote. "Can't thank @mattersofmotherhood enough for getting us through those rough nights with your donation. This is true community. True sisterhood. True kindness. And I can't wait to pay it forward one day soon."
  • As expected, Kat's post inspired critics to chime in, berating Kat for putting so much emphasis on breast milk.

  • With others bringing up her anti-vaccination stance.

Back in June, Kat revealed she doesn't plan on vaccinating Leafar that definitely sparked outrage.

  • 7
  • People really think using other women's breast milk is "gross."

    8
  • But thankfully, there are allies -- including moms who've donated breast milk to others -- who are coming to her defense.

  • It's not "gross" to help out a mom in need.

There are actually donor milk banks across the country. Plus, Kat likely took precautions as there are ways to keep baby safe when using donor breast milk.

  • Kat, or any other mom who chooses to use donor breast milk, shouldn't feel ashamed.

Seriously, people. If you don't have anything nice to say, just be quiet.
