Gabrielle Union's Emotional Post Captures the Moment She 'Embraced Faith' to Become a Mom After Fertility Struggles

Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade with their daughter Kaavia

When we say we're overjoyed for Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade having a baby, there's a reason for it. Aside from genuinely being happy for this celeb couple (who welcomed their first child together on November 7 via surrogate), to say their road to their daughter Kaavia has been rocky would be an understatement. Gabrielle Union's latest post describes the journey to their "little miracle" that touches on the difficulties and disappointments they've experienced -- and their beautiful light at the end of a very emotional tunnel.

  • Gabrielle took to Instagram to share this intimate photo of the day they decided to "embrace faith" they would have a baby.

Kaavia joins Dwyane Wade's three sons -- Zaire, 16, Zion, 11, and Xavier, 4 -- from previous relationships, and his nephew, Dahveon, 17, who lives with his family.

  • "We held onto each other in joy and peace and allowed ourselves to look forward to her arrival," the new mom shared.

Gabrielle Union continued in her heartfelt Instagram post:

"For lots of people/families who have been on their own unique fertility/family creation journey, hope can feel like a cruel joke that plays on repeat. You stop letting yourself get excited and you don't dare utter any updates. You carry it all. It can feel isolating and depressing. You wonder if you are defective. You are not. You wonder if you are worthy. You are. You feel you feel you feel you feeeeel. You are not alone. You are loved and worthy and every feeling is real and understood.

On this night, we allowed ourselves to stop holding our breath out of fear. We still had 4 months to go. We had ever been this close. #tbt"

  • Gabrielle has been open about her fertility struggles, revealing she suffered nine miscarriages and had years of unsuccessful IVF treatments.

"I have had eight or nine miscarriages," the new mom mentioned in her book, We're Going to Need More Wine, about trying to get pregnant, according to People. "For three years, my body has been a prisoner of trying to get pregnant -- I've either been about to go into an IVF cycle, in the middle of an IVF cycle, or coming out of an IVF cycle."

  • And it's one of the reasons why fans of hers can't stop celebrating her bundle of joy.
