22 Celebrities Who Are Proud Stepparents

Being a parent is hard; that's just a fact. But parenting a child who doesn't share the same blood can be harder. Stepparents are often thrust into the middle of a family dynamic (blended families can take work) that's been in place for years. And sometimes, kids may even resent their stepparents for the change -- resulting in a pretty bad rap. After all, the words "evil" and "stepmother" often go hand in hand. But, being a stepparent isn't all bad. In fact, it comes with plenty of benefits for both the mom or dad and the child. Many stepparents view their stepchildren as "bonus kids," with the added benefit of having another person in their lives who loves them.

Many celebrities are pros at being stepparents, and it makes sense given Hollywood stars are not exactly known for their longevity when it comes to relationships. It's easy to see how so many stars wind up in blended families and become stepparents themselves. Stars such as Jada Pinkett-Smith, Kelly Clarkson, and Gabrielle Union make being a stepparent look like a breeze -- although we know it's no easy feat.

A number of celeb moms and dads have blazed the trail for blended families, which now more than ever, seem to be the norm. Although family relationships can often be tough to navigate, these celebs make sure to always be there to support their stepkids -- and the kids are often just as proud of their stepparents. Kids of divorced parents have it tough, but these celebs are doing a great job at being great bonus parents.

Here's a rundown of celeb stepparents who are proud to carry the title.

  • Gabrielle Union

Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade recently welcomed their first child together, a baby girl named Kaavia James, via gestational carrier. Dwyane has three sons from a previous relationship (he also has a nephew he's raising) that Gabrielle has had a very big hand in helping to raise. It looks like little Kaavia sure has some great protectors in her big bros!

  • Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson got two big gifts when she married husband Brandon Blackstock in 2013: his kids, Seth and Savannah. She often gushes over her stepkids on social media, and it's clear she's one awesome mom. In addition to her bonus kiddos, Kelly and Brandon also share two kids of their own: River Rose, 4, and Remington Alexander, 2.

  • Jada Pinkett-Smith

Jada Pinkett Smith is stepmom to Trey Smith, son of Will Smith and his first wife, Sheree Fletcher. Although Jada has revealed she and Sheree haven't always had the best relationship, she was clear that her relationship with Trey is a good one.

"You are not only my bonus son, but my friend. Thank you for the many ways you have held my hand through the years. I'm learning every day how to hold yours in the many different ways that you need," she captioned this Instagram photo of her and Trey.

  • Matt Damon

Matt Damon is notoriously private about his family, but he did open up to Parade Magazine about the joys of being stepfather to wife Luciana's daughter, Alexia.

"I jumped into the deep end with Lucy," he gushed. "I mean, Alexia was already 4. I was an extra dad. …The only way I can describe it -- it sounds stupid, but -- at the end of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, you know how his heart grows, like, five times its size? Everything is full; it’s just full all the time."
  • Jason Momoa

Jason Momoa may be known for his burly muscles and manly good looks, but he also has a sweet spot for his kids. He became a stepdad to Zoe Kravitz when he started seeing her mom, Lisa Bonet, in 2005. Jason and Lisa share two biological kids of their own, but that doesn't mean he's any less proud of his stepdaughter.

  • Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson is a proud dad to his daughter, Sienna, 1, who he shares with wife Ciara. But he is also a super proud stepdad to Ciara's son, Future, 4, from her previous relationship with the rapper of the same name.

  • Kurt Russell

Kate Hudson calls Kurt Russell "Pa," though he is not her biological father. However, Russell has been in Kate's life since she was a little girl -- and she's made it clear many times that he is her only father. Kurt is also stepdad to Kate's brother, Oliver Hudson.

    (Goldie is one lucky gal!)

  • Gisele Bundchen

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen has opened up about how difficult it was in the beginning of her and Tom Brady's relationship -- knowing that his ex-girlfriend, Bridget Moynahan, was pregnant with his first child, John. But all these years later, the family is as happy as can be.

Gisele clearly loves her stepson as she called him "a little angel" and "the best big brother" in this Instagram post celebrating his eighth birthday.

  • LeAnn Rimes

LeAnn Rimes had somewhat of a rocky start when she and husband Eddie Cibrian got together. The celeb dad's ex, former Real Housewives star Brandi Glanville, often criticized LeAnn and the relationship with her sons, Jake and Mason. However, things seemed to have calmed down as LeAnn is thoroughly enjoying her time as a stepmom.

  • Caitlyn Jenner

Caitlyn Jenner was a stepparent to the most famous family on television: the Kardashians. Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, and Rob were Caitlyn's stepchildren prior to her gender transition. Although the siblings no longer have a great relationship with Caitlyn, she did play a pivotal role in their upbringing.

  • Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys and her hubby, Swizz Beats, are parents to two little boys: Egypt, 8, and Genesis, 4. But Swizz was already a dad to a daughter, Nicole, and sons Prince Nasir and Kasseem. From the look of things, this family is blending together quite nicely and Keys has got this mom thing down pat!

  • Daniel Craig & Rachel Weisz

Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz recently welcomed a baby girl back in September, but they were both already parents to kids from previous relationships. Rachel is mom to Henry Aronofsky, who she shares with her ex-husband, Darren Aronofsky -- and Craig is dad to Ella, from his marriage to Fiona Loundon.

  • Catherine Zeta-Jones

When Catherine Zeta-Jones married Michael Douglas, she also became a stepmom to his son, Cameron. Here she is shown with Cameron's baby daughter, Lua, 11 months.

Looks like she is a smitten grandma!

  • Salma Hayek

In 2009, Salma married husband François-Henri Pinault, who has three children from previous relationships. As anyone can see, she is close with his kids. Salma and François also have a daughter of their own, Valentina, 11.

  • Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria may have recently welcome son Santiago earlier this year with husband José Baston. But she had plenty of practice with her hubby's kids prior to giving birth. (He has three from his previous relationship.)

  • Barbara Streisand

Josh Brolin is not only a hunk and a movie star, but he has Barbra Streisand for a stepmom. (She married his dad James Brolin in 1998.) She's clearly smitten with her stepson, and he seems pretty fond of her too!

    (Who wouldn't be!?)

  • Abby Wambach

U.S. Olympic soccer player Abby Wambach married author and activist Glennon Doyle a few years back. And when she did, she became a stepmom to Glennon's three kids: Chase, Tish, and Amma. Abby loves being a stepmom and posts pics of her stepkids often on her social media. The kids probably feel just as lucky to call Abby "mom" as all three of them play soccer. Score!

  • Paul Bettany

Although the image may be blurry, the message is crystal clear: Paul Bettany loves his "two beautiful boys." Pictured here is Paul's stepson, Kai, and biological son, Stellan. Kai is actress Jennifer Connelly's son from a previous relationship. (Jennifer and Paul wed in 2003 when Kai was just 6.)

  • Eniko Hart

The Harts are a pretty tight unit. Eniko and Kevin Hart, who officially said "I do" in 2016, have an adorable 1-year-old son together named Kenzo. Eniko is also a proud bonus mom to the comedian's two kids, Heaven, 13, and Hendrix, 11, from a previous marriage.
  • Jennifer Lopez & Alex Rodriguez

OK, so these two aren't officially married ... yet, but that hasn't stopped them from showing love for each other's children. Jennifer often posts photos of Alex's daughters, Ella and Natasha, with her twins, Max and Emme. The kids look thick as thieves and even cuddle up together with their parents.

This is one gorgeous blended family.
