16 Celebrity Pregnancy Hacks That Just Might Come in Handy

Kristin Cavallari and Heidi Montag

The parenting realm has been known come with lots of challenges. But one of the hardest (if we're being honest) typically happens at the beginning of it all: during pregnancy. Sure, it's beautiful watching our bodies change and having living proof that they can literally grow, house, and give birth mini humans. But being pregnant can also be uncomfortable, confusing, and tiring AF at times. Just ask Hilary Duff and like, a million other celebrity moms who’ve been honest about how difficult those long nine months can be. This is one of the many reasons why expectant mamas look for ways to make pregnancy as stress-free and enjoyable as possible. And thank the high heavens they did as a number found some wonderful hacks to make pregnancy a bit more manageable.

Oh yes, help is on the way, ladies!

Believe it or not, celebs -- who've been there and done that -- can be a true lifeline when it comes to navigating the woes of being pregnant. We've already basked in their celebrity parenting hacks, and now, we get some more tips from famous mamas on what helped them get through their pregnancies. Some of these tricks are more doable than others (we don't think Heidi Pratt was serious with her hack for preventing stretch marks, for starters), but all of them are worth a shot during those long, exhausting nine months.

So here's a look at some celebrity-inspired pregnancy hacks -- including items these once moms-to-be swore by, easy work-arounds for off-limit pregnancy foods, and advice for expectant mamas that will likely come in handy.

Hey, it takes a village, and we're happy to be a part of the tribe.

  • Kate Hudson's Stretch Marks Hack

If no one can tell, preventing stretch marks while pregnant is kinda a big thing (and deal) to a number of expectant moms -- including celebs. To help ward those pesky lines, Kate Hudson used belly masks to keep her bump hydrated and help reduce the likelihood of stretch marks during and after pregnancy.

  • Jessica Simpson's Airplane Hack

    No compression socks? No problem!

Jessica Simpson proved that frozen chicken nuggets can double as an ice pack to help reduce swollen, sore feet when flying while pregnant.

  • Jessica Simpson's Swollen Feet Hack

Speaking of swollen feet, Jessica proved that frozen foods also work when placed on the soles of feet, rather than on top. She elevated her legs and tucked two bags of frozen rice and brussels sprouts into her sweatpants to relieve some pregnancy discomfort.

How is this smart girl the same one who thought she was eating chicken from a can instead of tuna?!

    (LOL. All love, Jess.)
  • Hilary Duff's 'Big Belly' Hack

Hilary Duff’s pregnancy has been going on for what seems like forever, but she's making the most of it. Hil found another use for her baby bump while reading, turning it into a "bookmark" belly!

Pro tip: A pregnant belly also doubles as a great place to fold baby laundry and a table for snacking.

  • Jessica Alba's Relaxation Hack

Of course Jessica Alba's pregnancy hacks revolve around products in her Honest Company line, but we'll admit this one does sound legit. The new mama of three said that her nighttime routine while pregnant involved taking a bath and using with her company's lavender lotion, which she says helped her sleep better.

"It's made with naturally derived essential lavender oils and it helps me relax after a long day," she once confessed.

    We can dig it!

  • Hilaria Baldwin's Sleep Hack

Celebrity moms -- like Hilaria Baldwin and Khloe Kardashian -- swore by pregnancy pillows while pregnant. It's basically a big cuddle buddy that helps improve sleep and limits tossing and turning throughout the trimesters.

  • Chelsea Houska's Pants Hack

Pregnant mamas know all too well that awkward stage where the belly has popped, but not quite enough for maternity pants. Chelsea Houska revealed on Teen Mom 2 her solution to this problem: Using a hair tie to close her pants.

It's an oldie but a goodie!

  • Lauren Conrad's Maternity Style Hack

When Lauren Conrad was expecting her son Liam, wearing pants was too much effort. Her number one maternity style hack? Don't wear pants at all. "I haven’t zipped pants in months," she once told E! about her pregnancy tip. She didn't exactly go naked, though, opting for roomy dresses instead.

  • Heidi Pratt's Stretch Marks Hack

Meanwhile, Lauren's former Hills co-star shared her tips for preventing stretch marks when she was pregnant with son Gunner last year.

"Just a little tip for any pregnant mamas out there," Heidi said on Instagram Stories. "Before I eat a meal -- and get ready for it -- I put a lot of coconut oil on my stomach. So, when it stretches, I'm all ready for it."

    Hey, if it works.
  • Miranda Kerr's Stretch Marks Hack

Model Miranda Kerr used rosehip oil from her beauty line to prevent unsightly skin irritations during those long nine months before son Flynn was born. "I don't have a single stretch mark -- I had a 10-pound baby!" Miranda's said about her pregnancy beauty secret. "It's really nourishing and full of antioxidants and essential fatty acids."

  • Audrey Roloff's Anxiety Hack

Former Little People, Big World star Audrey Roloff swore by applying essential oils to her chest and wrists with a "bump roller" before bed when she was pregnant with daughter Ember. She claimed the oils helped with skin irritation, itchiness, and even sleep.

  • Kristin Cavallari's Deli Meat Hack

Mom of three Kristin Cavallari found a work-around to the "don't eat deli meat while pregnant" rule -- so much so, that she made the meat slices a major part of her pregnancy diet by making one simple change.

"You can't eat deli meat when you're pregnant unless you zap it in the microwave," she said, since it allegedly carries harmful bacteria if not heated up. "So I just zap the heck out of turkey almost every day."
Definitely double-check with a doctor to get the OK on this.
  • Catherine Lowe's Shopping Hack

Though husband Sean Lowe has a pretty genius solution for parenting (just wedge the kid in the couch, duh), his Bachelor wife, Catherine Lowe, had the pregnancy thing on lock when she was expecting their second son, Isaiah.

She bought multi-use products that made life easier while expecting -- including a "kangaroo pouch" shirt that definitely make life with a bun in the oven easier. "... It's not an attachment, it's a tank top that you wear as a carrier," the reality star mom once confessed about her favorite item for expectant moms. "You can breastfeed in it, and it's great for travel because you don't have to pack it. You just wear it! They're super comfortable."

  • Tamera Mowry's Smooth Skin Hack

Sister, Sister star and mom of two Tamera Mowry didn't use anything fancy to prevent her stretch marks. But she did apply good ol' coconut oil to not just her belly, but her entire body.

"I put coconut oil all over my body to try and help fight stretch marks," she told Parents during her second pregnancy with daughter Ariah.
  • Tia Mowry's Morning Sickness Hack

Tamera's sister, Tia, suffered from morning sickness during her first pregnancy and revealed that the only thing that helped was wearing wristbands meant to prevent motion sickness.

"I actually wear these nausea bands -- they're like motion sickness bands that people wear on, like, cruise ships and stuff -- and they have been my best friends. They're part of my wardrobe now,” she confessed to Access Hollywood in 2011.
  • Katherine Heigl's Indigestion Hack

Indigestion can truly be a mother, and Katherine Heigl found solace in a common pantry item that helped her with stomach discomfort. "I've joked about how much I belch in the past but those first eight weeks were totally out of control," she once wrote on her blog, Those Heavenly Days, about combating indigestion while pregnant.

"I was desperate for a solution and to not feel like my stomach was going to explode after every meal. I found a lot of home remedies online that included apple cider vinegar so I figured I'd give it a shot. Well I'm glad I did cause it works like a charm. I started out putting 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 1 tablespoon of fresh squeezed lemon juice into 8 ounces of warm water every morning before I would eat. I know it sounds a bit counter intuitive to drink baking soda but it would force all the air out of my gut (I won’t lie those baking soda burps were pretty impressive) and calm my stomach."
