With less than three months to go before their LO arrives, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt hit up her OB's office for a check-up yesterday, Monday, July 17. Montag took to Snapchat to document the appointment, during which she had an ultrasound and did a glucose test. Of course, she also got weighed, and the 30-year-old mom-to-be lamented that at six months along, she's gained 25 pounds.

  • "I've already gained 25 pounds!" Heidi lamented, frowning at the camera.

"I mean, no big deal, right?" she said sarcastically in her snap, according to ET. "Just three more months to go at 4 pounds a month.

  • Doing the math, she figures she'll gain roughly 40 pounds total by the time she's full-term.

"So I'll only gain about 40 pounds or so; some women gain 25," she noted. "I think I over ate."

It's a shame to hear the former reality star beating herself up like this! The fact of the matter is that, according to the Mayo Clinic, there's no one-size-fits-all approach to pregnancy weight gain. What's appropriate for one woman might not be true for another; it has to do with your pre-pregnancy weight and body mass index (BMI).

For instance, the recommended weight gain for a woman whose BMI falls under 18.5 is anywhere from 28 to 40 pounds. If your BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9, it's advised that you gain 25 to 35 pounds. And for women whose BMI is between 25 to 29.9, 15 to 25 pounds.

  • Although Heidi shared her blood draw with followers, we're not privy to her BMI and other medical details.

Plenty of factors could shed light on her "recommended" weight gain. But judging from just this one Snapchat story, Heidi is clearly working very closely with her health care providers to ensure she has a healthy pregnancy. Only she and they really know if she "overate" or if she's right on track with her diet and weight gain.

  • Ultimately, what's most important is Heidi's health -- and that of her baby boy.

This amplified distress over weight gain is dangerous for any mom-to-be. Because it really shifts the focus away from what's most important: carrying and giving birth to a healthy baby.

Although Heidi and Spencer's kiddo acted a bit "shy" during the ultrasound portion of their appointment, it seems like the former Hills star is growing a healthy little boy. When it comes to priorities, anything else -- the scale, especially -- definitely seems to pale in comparison!
