Some celeb parents put their kids in the spotlight from the second they're born -- or even before (ahem, Kardashians). Other famous moms and dads, however, go to great lengths to make sure their children are as protected from prying eyes as possible, sometimes going so far as to take legal action -- and why shouldn't they? Celebrity kids didn't ask to be famous, after all ... even if there are some undeniable perks!

In fact, the Hollywood parents on our list are so impressively private, you probably didn't even know some of them had kids!

  • Jennifer Garner

Mom-of-three Jennifer Garner feels so strongly about celeb kids being protected from the paparazzi that she testified on behalf of Senate Bill 606, which required harsher punishment for harassing celebrity kids and was signed into law by California Governor Jerry Brown. Don't mess with Mama Bear!

  • Kristen Bell

Another celebrity mom who challenged the paparazzi and won: Mother-of-two Kristen Bell, who called on magazine readers to boycott publications that publish paparazzi pictures of celebrity kids. Her efforts paid off in a major way when ET, Just Jared and People all banned paparazzi pics of famous tots!

  • Halle Berry

Like Jennifer Garner, mom-of-three Halle Berry testified on behalf of Senate Bill 606 and has been known to confront paps trying to snap pics of her kids. Berry made the following statement after the law she fought for was passed:

"On behalf of my children, it is my hope that this is the beginning of the end for those overly aggressive paparazzi whose outrageous conduct has caused so much trauma and emotional distress."

    Splash News

Ridiculously attractive couple Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are so private about their two girls that they even managed to keep the birth of their second daughter, Amada, a total secret from the press (and there are virtually no photos of either one to be found!).

  • Donald Glover

Atlanta star Donald Glover and his girlfriend are another couple who welcomed a baby without the press finding out -- for months! Not only that, but Glover has even managed to keep his girlfriend's identity secret. Now that's private!

  • Keri Russell

Keri Russell and her Americans costar Matthew Rhys weren't able to completely hide the fact that they had a baby from the press, but Russell did manage to keep their son's gender and name (Sam) under wraps for about six weeks. Even more impressive is the fact that you hardly ever hear or see anything about Russell's son and daughter from her previous marriage!

Arguably the most successful celeb birth cover-up in recent history, Gilmore Girls star Alexis Bledel and husband Vincent Kartheiser (of Mad Men fame) managed to keep their son's fall 2015 birth on the down low until May of 2016, when Bledel's costar Scott Patterson spilled the beans in an interview about the Gilmore Girls revival. Whoops! To this day, it seems no one knows the little boy's name.

  • Leighton Meester & Adam Brody

Former Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester's reasons for keeping her toddler daughter with Adam Brody (The OC) out of the spotlight go beyond a need for privacy, as she explained in a Refinery29 interview this spring about her new show, Making History:

"I don't talk about Arlo very much. I am very proud of that area of my life. But I'm also really proud of the show, and of the work I do....

"I think the perception is: You're an ingenue, or you're an icon, or you're a mom. There's no in between."

  • Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock had some very smart and serious reasons for not talking about the 2015 adoption of her second child, daughter Laila. Because she fostered the little girl before adopting her, Bullock feared that negative publicity would disrupt the process.

"Most foster children are in foster care because they were taken from their birth homes under tragic circumstances -- and the last thing I wanted was to bring more harm to her because of the nature of my job," the actress told People.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan (otherwise known as The Walking Dead's resident bad guy, Negan) and wife Hilarie Burton (One Tree Hill) did such a good job of keeping their son Augustus from the prying eyes of the paparazzi that one of the first times he was ever photographed was at the 2017 Indy 500 ... when he was already 7 years old!

  • Adele

It's unlikely that any tabloid photographers will go after Adele's son Angelo anytime soon -- not since the singer and her husband Simon Konecki won a five-figure lawsuit against a photo agency that snapped pics of the little boy's "milestone moments" and published them without permission!

  • Kerry Washington

Considering that Kerry Washington managed to keep her wedding to former football player Nnamdi Asomugha a secret, it's no surprise that she's super private about her kids, too. Speaking about her daughter in 2016 on a SXSW panel, she said

"It's like I have these itchy fingers where I want to just show my daughter because she's so cute and instead I like, send it to my shrink or send it to my mother. I'm like, 'Look at this picture! Look how cute, look at this picture!' Get it out of my phone into the world, but not on social. So I get the desire to do that, but I want her to make her own decisions in her time and I feel like she already has a lot to navigate in life being the daughter of an actor and a former football player that she has a lot going on, so she should be able to enter this world when it feels right for her and not make that decision for her. Who knows what the next generation of Snapchat will be when she’s allowed to have a phone, you know? Who knows?"

  • Matt Damon

While many celebs go to great lengths to keep their kids hidden away, Matt Damon (who has three daughters with wife Luciana Barroso and is also raising her daughter from a previous relationship) says the fact that he's kept his family's life famously private is due mostly to good fortune.

"I attribute a lot of it to luck," he said in 2015. "[Paparazzi] shoot me every day coming out of the gym. [But a] married guy with kids, it's not that exciting."

We think he's underestimating how "exciting" he is, but whatever works!

  • Nicole Richie

After a scary incident when Nicole Richie's daughter Harlow was stalked at her preschool by the paparazzi, the star got a restraining order against one photographer and testified that others had also "crossed the line" with both Harlow and her son, Sparrow.
