You've gotta hand it to Jessica Simpson. She went from sort of struggling to stand out among the other blond pop princesses in the late '90s and early '00s to transitioning into the founder of a wildly successful fashion brand. (Believe us -- we own one of her coats and it is insanely beautiful.) Another thing we admire about the 36-year-old mom of two is how real she is about the way her own fluctuating weight helped her design clothing for women.
Over the years, Simpson found herself the subject of harsh criticism over her changing weight. Most folks from the MTV TRL generation can attest to this -- the obnoxious headlines and endless chattering about Simpson's size was well-known. That same foul attention, however, led her to create a clothing line today that caters to all women. As she tells CBS Sunday Morning:
It's very important for me to let every woman feel included. If I make a shirt, I'm going to make sure every size is available. Because I have been every size, trust me.

Bloomberg reported in 2015 that Simpson's brand had grown into a billion-dollar empire, describing it as such: "Her assortment of designs seeks to appeal to all kinds of women -- a teen searching the mall for a cool denim jacket, a plus-size girl looking for a going-out dress, a grandmother who wants to dazzle in a chic top."
And yet somehow, according to Simpson herself, people still seem surprised when they end up liking her products. In her CBS interview, she acknowledged that being "a cheesy pop star back in the day" might have something to do with it.
