Congratulations, Julia Roberts! The 49-year-old mother-of-three was just named People magazine's World's Most Beautiful Woman -- for the fifth time, no less! It's not hard to see why, considering Roberts is as stunning as ever (maybe even more stunning than ever!). But what's really beautiful about Julia Roberts, as always, is her down-to-earth attitude. A perfect example: how she talks to her kids about beauty.

Sitting down with People's editor-in-chief Jess Cagle, Roberts addressed the question of what she tells her kids about beauty, appearance, and the pressure to look or dress a certain way.

"It's an interesting navigation because you don't want to mess them up, you don't want to make them aware of something that was better that they weren't aware of," Roberts said.

"I think as long as everybody smells good and has a smile on their face, that's a beauty regime!"

What an amazingly well-adjusted and practical approach. It's also one I'm sure her kids -- 12-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus and 9-year-old Henry Daniel -- will no doubt benefit from.

As a mother of three (one of whom is a teen girl), I completely relate to what she's saying about not wanting to mess her kids up in this area. On the one hand, you want to tell your kids that they're beautiful. You want them to be confident and feel good about themselves. On the other, you don't want to inadvertently send the message that their physical appearance should somehow dictate their self-worth.

Trying to strike the right balance can feel like a tightrope walk at times, and I can only imagine that this is even more true for someone like Julia Roberts, who -- though she's a very talented actress -- owes a large part of her fame to her beauty.

The most important thing we can do as parents in this regard is to stay conscious of our words and actions, which is something Roberts is clearly doing. After all her years in the spotlight, I'm sure she's gone through her share of struggles with self-image. It can't be easy to have millions of eyes judging you constantly! First, as the quintessential "pretty woman," and then as an "aging" actress (the horror!).

But it seems as if Roberts is remarkably grounded about it all, and that she's doing the best she can to pass the same perspective on to her kids, who, for the record, are undoubtedly beautiful! Especially when they smell good and have smiles on their faces.
