Snooki's Way of Explaining Her Stretch Marks to Her Kids Is Absolute Perfection

snooki and kids instagramsnooki/InstagramEven celebrity moms get stretch marks -- and even celebrity moms have kids who are all too willing to point them out! But former Jersey Shore star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi couldn't have had a better response when her son and daughter asked about the lines on her tummy; in fact, her explanation was so perfect you might be tempted to use it on your own curious offspring!

Snooki posted an adorable photo of the teachable moment to Instagram, and you can see that 4-year-old Lorenzo and 2-year-old Giovanna seem absolutely fascinated by their mom's abdomen. Why are they so enchanted by stretch marks? Probably because Snooki made them sound so badass:

"This morning my kids asked why I have lines on my stomach. I had to explain to them that it's my tiger stripes I gained when I became their mommy. They thought it was so cool and can't believe how they fit in my belly."

Love it! So many of us, in her place, would glance down at our bellies, roll our eyes, and mutter something about how pregnancy ruined our bodies. But that, of course, is the absolute worst message we can send -- not just to our kids, but also to ourselves!

Calling our stretch marks "tiger stripes," on the other hand, is a way to remind ourselves (and our kids) that motherhood makes us fierce and powerful. When you really think about it, why are we ashamed of any aspect of our postpartum bodies when we should be proud? Well, because that's how our society tells us to feel, of course -- but we can choose not to play along. We can reframe these negative associations in creative ways. We can call our stretch marks tiger stripes!

Because, as Snooki clearly knows, learning to truly accept ourselves isn't just crucial for our own well-being -- it's also such an important example to set for our kids. Not only will they be more likely to be confident and less critical of themselves, but they'll also grow up respecting and appreciating mothers and women for all that they do, not just their ability to fit some unrealistic standard of beauty.

Way to go, tiger mom!
