New parents have been known to (eventually) set one or two fitness goals, but this duo has their eyes on something a bit unconventional: the mirror ball trophy. Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy announced they're returning to Dancing With the Stars, which has us getting our poster boards and glitter pens ready.

The engaged couple and proud parents of their almost 2-month-old son Shai (Peta and Maks welcomed their baby to the world on January 4) revealed to Good Morning America they'll be competing against each other on season 24 of DWTS that's set to premiere March 20.

Of course, this mom and dad are naturally sad about having to leave their sweet boy.

"This [returning to DWTS] is the only difficult part about coming back on the show this time because it will take time away from being with this dude [Shai]," Maks told Good Morning America.

Like many postpartum mommies, Peta has some reservations about strapping on her dancing shoes months after giving birth, but she's down to try it like the badass she is.

"I am definitely a little bit nervous, but I am very excited to get back. I have definitely missed the dance floor," Peta revealed to Good Morning America. "I just want to be healthy. It's going to take a little bit longer, I think, to get back up to the fitness I was doing and had before. I think it's going to be okay. I am going to take it slowly and hopefully I have an awesome partner to go through this with."

I'm no ballroom dance expert, but, Peta, you are KILLING IT in this dance video Maksim posted on Instagram.

"Been 'making moves' for the last few weeks and I can't be more proud of the work she's [Peta] put in!" Maks captions. "Can't wait till my boo is back at it better than ever!"

Go, Mama, go!

Maks also gushed to Us Weekly about Peta, telling the mag how proud he is of his fiancée's determination. "Most people start using the stairs instead of the elevator at nine weeks postpartum -- this one [Peta] is going to be dancing full-out," Maksim boasted to Us.

Obviously, not every mother will feel moved to foxtrot weeks after giving birth -- and that's okay! All of our bodies are different, so it's important to do what's best for you and your body and, of course, check with your doctor.

I haven't watched Dancing With the Stars in a long time (don't judge me), but I just might tune in to cheer Peta on.

I can remember feeling so empowered after giving birth to my boys and how much I wanted to set new goals -- including in the world of fitness. And like most new parents, I also had to battle feelings of guilt as leaving LO -- even to run to the store -- can and is often hard.

Seriously, look at Maks and Peta's son Shai. He's sooo adorable!

So long as Peta is happy and healthy, I say more power to her!

Best of luck on DWTS, guys. Can't wait to see you both burn up the dance floor -- and see baby Shai make a few cameos (during rehearsals, of course).
