Madonna, who is also mom to four children (Lourdes, 20, Rocco, 16, David Banda, 11, and Mercy James, 11), "has demonstrated over the years that she has passion for Malawi and her children and therefore the court was satisfied and could not stop the adoption of the twins," Titus Mvalo, a lawyer for Madonna in Malawi, told Reuters.

Stella and Esther's mother died during childbirth, and their father appeared in court during the adoption proceedings, reports E!. The judge, Fiona Mwale, sang Madonna's praises, noting, "Her charity work brings her in contact with orphanages, and it was as a result of this contact that she felt compelled to fill a gap in their lives and open up her home to them." So sweet.

Back in July, fans got their first glimpse of the twins when Madonna shared this beautiful shot of Lourdes with the girls.

Sounds like the adoption has been a long time coming, and being able to make it official must be so special and heartwarming for the Queen of Pop.

Congrats to her and the whole family!
