There are certain people in this world we just can't bear to live without. The Dalai Lama. The Pope. Betty White. Celine Dion. Celine is a powerhouse -- with the voice of an angel -- whom we can't stop loving and whom we hope is doing well since the passing of her beloved husband, Rene Angelil, who died on January 14 last year. (Celine also lost her brother two days after Rene died.) Celine Dion just shared a photo of her first Christmas without her husband that proves family and love are all you need to go on.

The 48-year-old Grammy Award–winner and her children (sons Rene-Charles, 15, and twins Eddy and Nelson, 6) are all smiles in their holiday pic Celine posted to Instagram on January 12. Hopefully it's proof of a merry Christmas, even though the sadness of Rene's not being there must have been so hard.

Celine also shared a fun moment with her boys spending a little time in front of the fire.

Prior to the holidays, Celine revealed how hard it is to go on without her beloved Rene, and the need to take things day by day.

"I cannot just live on like, 'I lost my husband, my children have no father,'" Celine told Page Six in an interview. "I have to stand tall and strong because this is my way of living: Stand tall, be positive, pick your battles, do the best you can and to live for today, not for tomorrow, for today, and know nothing is perfect, not everything you want will happen."

I'm a longtime fan of Celine's and of her songs -- like "The Power of Love," "Because You Loved Me," and "All by Myself," to name a few -- and it brings me joy to see her smile, as I can't imagine the battle she's enduring internally.

Hopefully there are brighter days ahead for Celine, with the memory of her Rene ever strong and alive in the love of her children.
