Behati Prinsloo Shares First Post-Baby Selfie Before a Night Out With Her Girls

No new mother has it easy. Between healing from delivery, trying to get down that whole breastfeeding thing, and desperately fighting for more than a few minutes of sleep, the postpartum struggle IS REAL. That's what makes Behati Prinsloo's post-baby girls'-night-out photo so awesome. New moms need to know caring for baby can be tiring and that it's okay to take a little time to yourself -- without feeling any guilt about doing so.

Behati and her hubby, Maroon 5 crooner Adam Levine, might be on cloud nine with their daughter, Dusty Rose, but that doesn't exactly mean things are rainbows and unicorns.

This 27-year-old new mom took to Instagram to vent about the realities of motherhood and why she's unashamed to go out to dinner with her girlfriends.

(Looking good, Mom!)

As Behati mentions:

After 3 weeks of breastfeeding every 3 hours, no sleep and nursing my nipples back to life lol, I left the house to see my girls for dinner. Life is so beautiful, can't believe how lucky I got.

You better keep it real, Mama!

I couldn't agree more with what Behati said. Heaven knows the struggles I had weeks after giving birth -- including nursing my poor nips back to health (breastfeeding is no joke) -- and how much I yearned for a little breather.

And unlike Behati, I never took one, because I thought it would somehow make me a bad mom.

More mommies need to know it's okay to take some time to yourself to go out, go on a date, sleep, or just do absolutely nothing. You aren't the scum of the earth for checking in with yourself and admitting you need a little break to rest and recoup.

If anything, doing so just might make you more rested -- both physically, emotionally, and mentally -- to be the best mother you can.

Behati, I truly hope you had a ball at dinner -- even though I'm willing to bet you were thinking about Dusty Rose the whole time.

(Hey, it happens.)
