Janet Jackson performs at the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami Florida.
Mother's Day is going to be extra special for a certain icon. That's right, y'all: Janet Jackson is pregnant with her first child! The 49-year-old Grammy award winner and her husband, Wissam Al Mana, are going to be parents -- and this bit of news has Jackson fans around the world cheering for Janet. (... Miss Jackson if you're nasty.)

And you know what else makes Janet's pregnancy news even sweeter? Her 50th birthday is May 16. (Aww, congrats!)

While there aren't too many deets about baby Jackson, "sources" (y'all know how that goes) are confirming to E! News that Janet is in the second trimester of her pregnancy.

Just a month ago, Janet posted a video on YouTube explaining to fans why she is putting her world tour on pause. "My husband and I are planning our family. I have to rest up, doctor's orders," Janet said.

Aside from the mere fact that Janet Jackson is pregnant, this is HUGE news! Janet is almost 50, and still doing the dang thing. Her story will definitely inspire others who desire to become a mother later in life.

More from The Stir: Everything Is Right About Older Women Becoming Mothers

There are so many reasons why and when a woman decides it's the right time to have a child. And rather than focus on the negatives -- or whatever stigma that might come along with it -- we should lift up our fellow lady sisters and encourage them on their journey. As a mom of two, I truly wish every woman who wants to experience motherhood is able to do so. (It's the best gift in the world that brings so much joy and meaning to your life.)

Janet Jackson has been the soundtrack to my life. She taught me about "Control"; made me a member of "Rhythm Nation"; let me know things in life will be "Alright"; showed me that sometimes, "That's the Way Love Goes"; and taught me to embrace all areas of womanhood with one of her best works, my favorite album, The Velvet Rope.

(Janet was my '80s, my '90s, and a good part of my '00s.)

I'm so happy for you, Janet, and wish you nothing but the best. May your pregnancy be healthy and full of happy times.
