Jessa Duggar Gives an Update on Her Plans to Adopt a Child

Jessa Duggar and husband Ben Seewald make an appearance at the Southern Women's Show in Charlotte, North Carolina. It looks like baby Spurgeon might get a brother or a sister in the future! No, Jessa isn't pregnant (sorry to disappoint!), but that doesn't mean her family isn't planning on getting bigger. That's right, Jessa (Duggar) Seewald is revealing plans to adopt sooner rather than later.

Speaking with the folks at Us Weekly, Jessa says she and husband Ben Seewald have been very interested in adopting for some time now.

As Jessa says:

We have many friends who have walked this road, so we have seen firsthand the amazing power of adoption. There are so many kids out there who are longing for the love of a family, and we feel strongly about opening our hearts and our home to welcome them in.

With Spurgeon being 5 months, counselors have advised Jessa and Ben to wait until little man is at least 9 months before continuing with any adoption plans. That, however, is not stopping the Jill & Jessa: Counting On star and her hubby from signing on the dotted line. "We want to move forward with paperwork and a home study, and just be ready for however God opens those doors," Jessa tells Us.

Aww, what great news!

And, just to clarify, Jessa is open to the idea of more kids but isn't exactly trying to count to 19. Jessa told Us:

It’s not really about any specific number, but cherishing and loving the ones God brings to us — whether that be just one, or whether it be more, we’ll be grateful.
