Jessa Duggar & Her Husband Fight for Date Night -- & Hint at Expanding Their Family

Ben and Jessa Seewald

Anyone will tell you that when you become a new parent, things as you know them can change -- including in the romance department. Since the birth of their son Spurgeon, Ben and Jessa (Duggar) Seewald have been dealing with life with their 4-month-old. In a new episode of Jill & Jessa: Counting On, Jessa Seewald opens up about date nights and adopting.

Wait. Hold up. Adopting? Like, a child?

(Yup, we'll get to that.)

As Jessa and her husband Ben adjust to packing diapers and taking care of their tot, one thing that's definitely different for them is date night ... and the lack of it.

Ben had no problem admitting on camera that it's pretty hard trying to balance romance with a 4-month-old. Here's what he said on Jill & Jessa: Counting On:

Jessa and I would try to have pretty regular date nights before the baby was born. Yeah ... now that the baby's born, we're going to have to make more of a conscious effort to say, 'Hey, let's go on a date together.'

Hah, yup, that sounds about right, Ben.

I'm a mama of toddler and baby boys; let me just say how real the struggle is to muster up enough energy to go out on a date with kids. Sometimes you gotta take 'em with you (Jessa and Ben do), and get it in when and where you can fit it in -- literally. Luckily, Spurgeon is still a little thing, so you might be able to have your cake -- and enjoy it too -- inside a restaurant when he's sleeping.

Now, back to that adoption news.

Should we start planning another shower for these two?!

Survey says ... no -- at least not for now.

During a recent date, one topic of discussion that came up at the table was adopting a child. "Usually, when your baby reaches about 9 months old, that's when they ask you to come back and start your paperwork and everything," Jessa said on Jill & Jessa: Counting On, referring to when they could begin the process.

While there are no deets on how quickly Ben and Jessa would adopt, one thing we know is that their first child will likely come from the US. (The couple is considering adopting overseas down the road.)

I think it's a fabulous idea to create a family and give a child a home.

Best of luck dating and going forward with any adoption plans!
