Kristin Cavallari's Potty-Training Stories Show the Struggle Is Real

Kristin Cavallari

Getting your tot-sized son or daughter to say good-bye to diapers and hello to the toilet is no joke. There are ups, downs, poop in unexpected places, and pee everywhere. Kristin Cavallari is spilling the tea on potty-training her almost 2-year-old son Jaxon, and she'll either have you taking a stroll down memory lane -- or cringing at the journey that lies ahead.

(For the record, I'm a part of group number two.)

The 29-year-old former reality star-turned-author and her hubby, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, are trying their hardest to make little Jaxon's potty-training endeavors a success. And, judging by what Kristin says, things seem to be going well (so far). Not only can the 22-month-old poop on the toilet, but he also even enjoys a tummy rub from mama.

Score!

If only all kids would do this without too much hassle, right? Well, Kristin has been on the other side of potty-training before, and you can trust that it wasn't this smooth.

You can't help but laugh when you hear "potty-training horror stories," but this one is more fun than frightening. Plus, it doesn't involve a bucket of water and bleach, like one of those "OMG, I can't believe my child crapped there" commercials. (Woo-hoo!)

Thinking back to the days of trying to get her oldest son Camden to use the pot, Kristin told US Weekly a pretty funny story that many moms will find relatable:

Camden knew how to pee in a bush or on the grass before he knew how to pee in the toilet! That’s really what Jay taught him how to do. People would be over in the backyard and Camden would just pull his pants down and start peeing in the grass. The only thing I could do was laugh.

Baby steps, right?

Haha, baby steps indeed.

My oldest boy (he just turned 2) is finally showing signs of wanting to use the potty. Between his ripping off his diaper after he pees and constantly trying to "wipe mama," my husband and I trying our best.

It's always fun to hear stories from other parents that serve as a light at the end of the tunnel.

I also love how Kristin is "bribing" 3-year-old Camden to get in on the action. Kristin admits to slipping a sweet treat her eldest boy's way if he tries to get Jaxon to use the toilet.

“So Camden is like, ‘Listen Jaxon, you’re going to the bathroom!’ Cam has my sweet tooth, so he’s very motivated to get Jaxon on his toilet," jokes Kristin.

Yup, I'ma need to use that right there. (I have a 9-month-old who loves mimicking his older bro.) Who the heck knew how inspirational stories about pee and poop could be? LOL.

Thanks so much for sharing, Kristin!

And just think, soon, Camden and Jaxon will be bros and can help your daughter Sailor, 4 months, once it's her time to potty-train. (Winning!)
