Amy Schumer Criticized After Revealing Husband Is on the Autism Spectrum
Though a certain expectant mom-to-be is quite relatable when it comes to pregnancy not being glamorous, that's not stopping people from loving to hate her. Amy Schumer revealed her husband is on the autism spectrum, and it's safe to say there's a bit of backlash that some feel is justified.
Amy is opening up about her husband in her upcoming hour-long comedy special called "Growing."
Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer said "I do" last February. Eight months later, the comedian revealed they're expecting their first child, who will make his or her grand debut some time this year.
"I knew from the beginning that my husband's brain was a little different than mine," she reveals in her Netflix special.
"I have to start this over because I really want to get this right because I love him very much," she continues about her love for Chris Fisher and his diagnosis, Entertainment Tonight reports.
"My husband was diagnosed with what used to be called Asperger's. He has autism spectrum disorder. He's on the spectrum. And there were some signs early on .... Once he was diagnosed, it dawned on me how funny it was, because all of the characteristics that make it clear that he's on the spectrum are all of the reasons that I fell madly in love with him. That's the truth. He says whatever is on his mind. He keeps it so real. He doesn't care about social norms or what you expect him to say or do."
Well, many people seem to have an issue with Amy telling her husband's business.
Most of these comments don't mince words: Critics don't like Amy and go as far to accuse her of once making fun of people on the autism spectrum after an anti-vax skit she did.
Seriously, we have to do better.
Regardless how anyone feels about Amy, taking the negative route -- and hitting below the belt -- is totally uncalled for. We need to be better and do better.
Period.
