Soap Star Writes Moving Blog Post About Her Late-Term Miscarriage

Kimberly McCullough

Pregnancy loss is an incredibly hard and often private battle that so many women experience behind closed doors. Not everyone is comfortable sharing her story, and some will do so if and only when she feels the time is right. General Hospital star Kimberly McCullough has opened up about her miscarriage that happened in 2015, as she reflects on the joy being pregnant brought to her life.

"Not to go total Oprah on you, but at the end of this year and the beginning of the next, I am grateful for it all. Tired. But grateful."

Like most of us, the 37-year-old actress took time to reflect on the end of a year, and the start of a new one. Writing the blog entry "2015 Year End Wrap Up" on her site, Kimberly opened up to readers about all the highs and lows she experienced.

One memory, however, that many didn't expect to read was news McCullough miscarried, just several weeks shy of her third trimester.

In her post, Kimberly reveals she found out she was pregnant with a baby girl over the summer. She was overjoyed with news she was expecting, as Kimberly writes; it became too much to live in the reality without her precious bundle.

Kimberly's blog post was both incredibly honest and emotional. It also speaks to her strength, as she seems able to reflect on the joys being pregnant brought to her life -- even in a time of such difficulty.

These things happen and no, I don’t believe they happen 'for a reason.' I’m still processing, still healing, but anyone who has gone through it knows, losing a baby at 22 weeks is tragic. One thing I am proud of however was that I allowed myself to be happy and to relish the moment. I sat in all that goodness and I can recall those feelings (when I’m having different ones) and hope that it can be like that again.

I truly wish Kimberly, and other women who've experienced child loss, find peace. My heart breaks whenever I hear an expecting mother lost her child, and can only hope she'll one day have the opportunity to channel all of her love into a beautiful being she can call her own.
