Mark Zuckerberg Welcomes 1st Baby With Plans to Give Away His Billions

A congrats to the Zuckerberg family is in order! Mark Zuckerberg welcomed his first child with his wife, Dr. Priscilla Chan, and announced on Tuesday that the couple will donate 99 percent of their Facebook shares to charity within their lifetimes.

That's an estimated value of $45 billion, just in case you were wondering.

The new parents posted an open letter to their daughter Max on Facebook (where else?), and vowed to make the world a better place for little Maxima.

"Max, we love you and feel a great responsibility to leave the world a better place for you and all children. We wish you a life filled with the same love, hope and joy you give us. We can't wait to see what you bring to this world," the Facebook founder wrote.

While they didn't say at what pace they plan to invest their fortune into the future, they did say that they'll focus on education and health for all children.

He may have big plans to change the world, but Zuckerberg obviously believes it starts at home. He's planning on taking two months off to be with his wife and new baby, and starting in the new year, employees will be able to take up to four months of paid leave -- even if they're not the baby's primary caregiver. The new standard will also apply to same-sex couples welcoming babies.

In an earlier post, the 31-year-old wrote, "Studies show that when working parents take time to be with their newborns, outcomes are better for the children and families."

Bravo and congrats to the Zuckerberg family!
