Keira Knightley Reveals Her Darling English-Sounding Baby Name

Keira Knightley has been relatively quiet about her pregnancy, not discussing details during her red carpet interviews and skipping the whole pregnant Kim K–style selfie. Her birth experience was no different -- her baby girl arrived back in May to little media coverage. Bu now Keira's speaking out and sharing her baby name and we LOVE what she's saying.

Knightley and husband James Righton gave their baby girl the English name Edie. Edie, sometimes short for Edith, means "prosperous in war" or "happy warfare." Something about the dichotomy in that definition makes this moniker super interesting. It reminds us that in all of life, there's a whole lot of gray between black and white, right and wrong. Baby Edie joins the ranks of incredible actress Edie Falco, socialite and model Edie Sedgwick, and singer Edie Brickell.

Knightley also has some amazing things to say about the way Edie changed her body in the September issue of Elle. The awakening wasn't physical, but instead gave Knightley an important shift in perspective after pregnancy, childbirth, and nursing.

I have to say, as a woman, you hate certain parts of your body. You go through those periods where you look in the mirror and you think, 'Oh, if only I had different legs or arms or whatever.' You go through pregnancy and labor and then feeding the kid and you go, 'Wow, my body is totally amazing, and I'm never going to not like it again because it did this, and this is f—ing extraordinary.'

I have the very same feelings. Creating life, giving birth and sustaining a child from your breast are mind-bending experiences. If you're fortunate enough to experience even one of them, the best way to come out of it is saying "this is f#*king extraordinary." We love your thinking, Keira!
