Ryan Reynolds Reveals His Funniest Fatherhood Moments on 'Conan' (VIDEO)

ryan reynolds blake livelyCurious how fatherhood is treating Ryan Reynolds? Look no further than this clip from Conan, where he dishes on everything from what happened with wife Blake Lively in the delivery room to their 7-month-old daughter James's first words.

"I was there in the delivery room," Ryan told Conan, confessing that he did not feel very helpful.

"I was just a terrible coach," he confessed. "There was a lot of clapping. I went for a couple of high fives, but she did not."

Still Blake got through the delivery like a champ.

"My wife is the real, I mean she is a mercenary," Reynolds said. "At one point in the middle of the delivery, the doctor's cell phone went off and she said, 'Oh, no. Go ahead, take a personal call. Feel free.' She was cracking jokes in the delivery room. She may have been on drugs, but I don't ask personal questions."

Ryan also admits that at 7 months, James is obsessed with Mom.

"There's an unfair advantage there," he explains. "It turns out that breasts are actually a life support system and the child seems to gravitate towards the breasts. I'm just the breastless a--hole wandering around the room and getting in her sightline every once in a while. All about mom. I am dead to her. That's her first words, ironically. 'You're dead to me.'"

Fine, so this is a joke, but there's a whole huge grain of truth in there!

I know my husband also felt sidelined during the first year of our daughter's birth, when she was pretty much attached to me 24/7. And sadly, at first, I didn't notice how much of a third wheel he'd become. All I noticed was that he was grumpy a lot.

Suffice to say, motherhood is hard. But fatherhood is hard, too, in a totally different way. At least we've got Ryan's hilarious sense of humor to help us through, right?
