Rapper Macklemore Releases Sweet Song to Celebrate His New Baby Girl

sloaneRapper Macklemore and Tricia Davis have a baby girl! And she's already 2 months old, so the couple has clearly been holed up relishing their family time. Plus, they've given her a sleek, sophisticated name: Sloane Ava Simone Haggerty.

"Our daughter, Sloane Ava Simone Haggerty, was born two months ago on May 29," the proud new dad (born Ben Haggerty) announced to the press. "There is nothing like the joy and happiness that comes from bringing a baby into this universe. She has filled my heart in ways that I never knew were possible. She is the love of my life."

Gotta love their daughter's name, Sloane -- which has shot into major popularity of late. Once a surname meaning "warrior," the name quickly gained coolness cachet in the '80s as the name of Ferris Bueller's girlfriend, followed by another girlfriend in Entourage in the early 2000s.

The name also graced bestselling authors (Sloane Crosley of I Was Told There'd Be Cake), and comedian Rob Corddry named his daughter Sloane Sullivan. So, it's got a lot going for it!

Plus, dad Macklemore has even written a song to honor his new family member titled "Growing Up."

"When you try to escape yourself, life has an interesting way of creating situations that force you to come back. To look at who you are," Macklemore wrote. "This is why 'Growing Up' felt like the right song to re-emerge with. It's where I've been the last year, through all the ups and downs."

We are so with you, Macklemore -- pregnancy and a newborn definitely bring a ton of highs and lows. Here's to hoping your daughter will inspire many more serenades in her honor!
